Joan of Matriarch was created out of a relentless desire to understand my life up until now. It was created to tap into the feeling of what wants to unfold and allow it to come up to the forefront of my life and begin to create a life of authenticity. It’s a “life preserver” for myself and anyone who wants to come along with me on my journey. Many of us are submerged in a life created out of survival instincts and fear due to traumas and massive manipulation from outside sources. The misinformation that is fed to us leads us far away from who and what we are. It’s confining and has drastically severed our sense of unity, as well as our love for ourselves and others. We are all connected to the same source despite the illusions of what divides us.
I have decided to step up my growth game and I invite you to have the courage to do the same. The time is right for it. Whether I am in action or not, the unwavering sense of responsibility is still there, and whatever it is that wants to come through nudges at me constantly.

The pressing and nudging feeling that I am experiencing is what it feels like when we are called forth on a mission and our resistance to it is what causes the most discomfort. The only real fear that I have is of a life not lived and a soul unexpressed. My experience is that what you want is attracted to you, yet we all too often we use “but” to block it from existence, with fears, doubts, insecurities, analysis, pain and whatever else is on your list of shit you carry around. Practice vulnerability like it’s an art, knowing that stretching and discomfort is growth; it’s what molds you into your higher self and is a vital part of the life process.

Joan of Matriarch is one of many pebbles that I am throwing into the universe. Wherever it lands is not as significant as the fact that I am throwing it in the first place. It’s a step into action, courage, and a chance to create, an opportunity to draw down into my heart what is in my head and have it come through my hands so I can share it with the world.

It is time we start dropping our list of shit like it’s hot and take our inner world back. The false beliefs, the stories that we tell ourselves, indoctrination and ego-identified self, is what causes a life that feels like groundhogs day. It causes us to sling pain of every kind and on every level to our fellow human beings

Joan of Matriarch is everything I know I am and was afraid to express. She’s my exalted self. She is heroic and outrageous. She is a free-spirited badass who is part of the Matriarchal Militia. She finds herself in alignment with some of the most interesting lightworkers and heart-based thinkers. She knows that there is no coincidence in the timing of everything. She is a dreamer who loves to dream big. Like world peace big. She knows to trust in her inner guidance and that emotions are part of that. She shows up in life knowing her worth, confident, clear and balanced. She is ok with vulnerability leaning into life and facing the fear. It is part of the vital life process! She loves the way she sees the world through her unique perspective and knows that she is a part of the universal consciousness. She has learned to trust in the unseen world that affects all of us. She lives and loves with an open heart and moves through life with grace and joy. She knows her power, especially to create and manifest. She knows that mother earth is ascending and we are all going with it. We are getting an upgrade– the pain and discomfort are merely a part of the growing experience coming to the surface.

There is so much more to her, but most of all she knows that she is here to give voice and action to her highest power, self, and source in physical form. All she will ask of you is to work with the light and be brave enough to become the highest and best version of who you are. Rise to Love instead of falling into it. We are all called upon in this time of rising consciousness to unleash ourselves from mental confinement. As within, so without.

My Knowledge:

I have performed in a figure competition and compete in masters track, loving to challenge myself and the status quo on many levels. I am a certified Personal Trainer with a BA in Holistic Nutrition, a Naam Yoga Teacher and now a writer. I have a passion for all things Spiritual, Metaphysical and the science behind it all, as well as weight lifting, sprinting, learning new things and sharing my knowledge.

I have been interested in fitness and wellness for over 30 years. It started with a set of weights and a stationary bike and  grew into a passion for the human body, mind, spirit, and how it all works. I have lived a holistic lifestyle for years and have done my best to set that example for my family and those around me. For me, a holistic approach isn’t just about the physical, mental, emotional well-being, and spiritual values; it’s ultimately trusting in knowing that we all came here whole and complete to start with. The very essence of who you are is greatness, and you should believe nothing less.

I received my certification as a Personal Trainer through Hofstra’s Academy of Applied Personal Training. This is where I learned that movement is vital to your health and how well you move dictates the quality of your life. Your flexibility, strength, coordination, and posture all have an impact on your ability to perform daily tasks. The improvement of one or all of them will make the other tasks more manageable. Your goal should be a life full of vitality well into the later years of your experience. Many of the chronic diseases that we suffer from are a direct result of the underuse of our bodies. Diseases like Osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure are all commonly accepted as diseases of normal aging. Nothing could be further from the truth. Living a vital life includes movement, a component that will help create a body that functions more efficiently.

I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition from the Clayton School of Natural Health. Here I learned about dis-ease which is the lack of “ease” in the body due to imbalances and disruptions. Holistic healing addresses all parts of the individual, not just the physical aspect of a person where manifested illnesses are most apparent. Your body is your vehicle, and it thrives on clean eating, foods that are nutritionally dense, clean water and a lower toxic load. All of this adds to your vital life force. It’s scientifically proven that the foods we eat make up who we are. Cellular regeneration happens all the time; the cells of your stomach are replaced every few days, The outer layer of your skin is replaced every 2-4 weeks, and every 4 months you have new red blood cells. This regeneration happens with muscles, bones, and cells as well. What foods are you rebuilding your body with? It’s never too late to switch to a healthier lifestyle. Renowned philosopher Hippocrates said  “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

I am most recently a certified Naam Yoga Teacher. Through this powerful and loving experience, I have learned a form of yoga that is vital for today’s day and age. Through mantra, mudras, meditation, and movement, you work with the light and raise your vibrational frequency. I was also introduced to Kabbalah, its wisdom, and the laws of nature. I was taught an empirical method that helps one attain a higher form of reality. Our lives should not be left to default when there is a science to work with to reach a complete perception and sensation of reality instead of just what we perceive through our five senses. We are 90% non-physical and 10% physical, Kabbalah teaches you to work with that 90% that many of us hardly ever tap into.

I am currently learning to be a Block Therapy Instructor. Block Therapy is a self-care version of a bodywork practice called Fluid Isometrics. The Block Buddy our therapeutic tool is made of wood and is used for a minimum of 3 minutes in various positions throughout the body. With gravity and body weight, the block buddy is able to sink deeply into the tissue all the way to the bone. This pressure brings increased blood and oxygen into the area warming the connective tissue also know as fascia and “melting” the powerful seal between the layers of unhealthy restrictions.

Fascia is the tough layers of fibrous collagen-based connective tissue found throughout the entire human body. It runs from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. It is what makes you feel in your body. It needs regular stimulation to remain healthy otherwise it will glutinate and becomes thick. This is the reason we get frozen tissue and stuck out of alignment. It is also a dense network of nerve fibers and pain receptors. It’s where your pain is stored, physical and emotional.

As you work with the block you are not just releasing frozen tissue you are also releasing cells that have been stuck and trauma that has been stored in the body. You get to give your attention to areas of your body that don’t usually get it, melt through the frozen tissue, realign your body, and free yourself of pain, disease, and aging. Block Therapy is an exercise, a meditation and a therapy all at once.
